Carl tells more of his story:
In 1984 I was hired as Manager of WRNA in China Grove, in the 90s my wife and I owned WRNA,WRKB,WLTC (Gastonia) and WDEX in Monroe, now after selling two of the stations we own WRKB in Kannapolis and WRNA in China Grove, where I work the morning show Monday-Friday and various duties around the station (that’s what small business owners do).
I was elected to the Rowan County Board of Commissioners in 2008 with the most votes ever by a commission candidate (29,969) and was elected Chairman by my peers for two terms, and have spent the last two years as Vice Chair. ┬áDuring this time I have served on various committees and liaison position’s, most notably Rowan DSS board two as Vice Chair and I serve on the State DSS board as director of division II.
I have served on the MPO, a committee of elected officials from Rowan and Cabarrus counties concerning transportation priorities for the two counties.

I am a member of the Rowan Chamber of commerce serving on the State and federal Affairs committee, Member of the China Grove Board of Trade, Kannapolis Village Fest committee, Rowan County Republican party executive committee, member of the Rowan Tea Party Patriots, 2012 Rowan Friends of Scouting Chairman–Honors Eagle Scout 1973.
Rowan Republican of the year 2007 and 2008.
Most importantly, I am married to Angela, we have four children, four grandchildren and one on the way.
I would be honored to serve the citizens of Cabarrus/Rowan in Raleigh.
Here are some of my goals:
  1. Restructure the NCDOT to change the districts,to give more power to local elected officials as to what the priorities are on transportation needs are and make sure money for transportation is being spent on transportation as well as add an additional interchange in Southern rowan on I-85 for safety and economic reasons!
  2. Return vocational studies to our public schools and concentrate on Community colleges because most of our students are not attending a 4 year college.
  3. Put more money in the classroom by scaling back the top heavy administrations in our schools starting in Raleigh.
  4. Allow Fracking, drilling and anything else to get us off foreign oil and to bring jobs to NC (as long as we don’t condemn property to do so).
  5. Pass a law to allow conceal carry an easier process.
